Horrible Treatment at Thai Place in Millbrook, AL Today

When the Thai Place in Millbrook, AL (next to Food World shopping center, not the old one) first opened, we loved it. It became my favorite restaurant. Their chef is from Thailand, and the 'greeter' is his wife.

My husband (Editor of the Prattville Progress), and his staff began to eat there weekly, sometimes bi-weekly. I began to tell everyone I knew that the Thai Place was the best place to eat in the Montgomery area. Even in all of Central Alabama.

One afternoon, Jess, Alicia, Griffin and I were in there, and she brought out her husband, the cook to meet us. He 'never comes out, doesn't like to meet people', but we were bragging on the food so much, she convinced him to come out.

I haven't eaten there in a couple of months. Lunchtime is my 'waking time', so I usually missed going with the staff, unless I was already up. They closed early, at 8pm, for some strange reason, so we weren't able to make it out there for dinner often.

Today was Griffin's last day at the Progress. We were all going to eat at Thai Place to see him off. I managed to drag my butt out of bed for that. When I arrived, Alicia and Don were the only two there. Don said that the wife told him we would 'have to sit at separate tables' because we were going to have a party of 10.

We flagged down the waitress, and asked her if we could pull three small tables together. This was at noon, and they were by no means full. She went to talk to the wife, and the wife came over and told us we couldn't.

I was floored. Absolutely floored. She said that 'they didn't do parties' no greater than 8. We were going to have AT MOST eight, and ended up only having six. I said 'We're going to use that many tables anyway, what's the difference?'Her answer: 'He doesn't like to cook for big parties.'That's when I said 'Ok, then, let's go.'

She was still getting snippy with me as we were walking out the door.I don't understand what her problem was, not at all.

One things for sure....the six of us will never be back again. And, we'll tell everyone we know. I hope, after we're through, that this couple regrets not serving us.

It's not like we're 'troublemakers'....we're all grown adults...well, most of us. Griff still has some growing up to do. But, he'll get there.

And, the week before, Grif and Alicia were in there, and were told that they could eat, but it would be an hour, at least before food was served. This was because there was a PARTY OF TWENTY with tables pulled together.

So, let's go over this again. We were REFUSED service because we had a party of EIGHT. Yet, seven days before, at the SAME time of day, there was a party of TWENTY being served. Why are we any different??

Let me say this, too. I don't 'talk about' places like this, or bad mouth restaurants or establishments, unless they do something really bad. In my eyes, the way we were treated, was HORRIBLE.

And, even though my husband is the Editor of the Progress, and could flame them in every editorial column from here to eternity, he won't. I know he won't. He's not like that.

So, this is me, writing my own editorial. Don't visit the Thai Place, if nothing else, do it for me. We should not have been refused service, period. Griffin should have had his 'send off' at the place he wanted to eat, but instead we ate at El JalapeƱo, with great service, not so great food.

Thanks for reading, and remember......if you're ever in Millbrook/Prattville AL,you may not want to eat at the Thai Place, especially if you have more than one person!

Here comes the rain.....

Well, we finally closed on the house. This whole thing has been a cluster, but at least it's mine now!! I managed to get lots and lots of boxes from Wally World this weekend. Sure wish I had known about that when we moved last time! We bought most of the paint last night, except for my room, which is coming from Lowe's and is freakin' $30 a can! Oh, well. It's gourgeous! We're going to start painting today, and then Jess will put the laminate down, (which we got at Big Lots for cheap, cheap!), I will finish the other rooms, and then start on the floors. Somebody painted with no dropcloth while the hardwood was down, then put carpet down. I've got to figure out how to get that paint spatter up. It's going to be a long two weeks. After we get through with the cosmetics, I've got to start packing. We have to be out of here by the first. FUN times!! I'll try to post pics up when it's finished. I'm not real sure I know how, but maybe I can figure it out.

I Need a Little Help From My Friends.....

Well, I'm down to begging now. I need at least four big strong guys to help me move. I've got my brother coming, and maybe a friend of his. Also, Jess' friend may be coming, we don't know. But, I can't afford to pay professional movers, and I can't lift things because of my back. So, I'll grill out hamburgers and have all the fixings, if anyone wants to volunteer. We're going to move hopefully the last two weekends of March, either one of them, or both of them. Once we close, we'll be able to nail down the 'big' moving date.

Also, I need someone to help me with the cosmetic repairs. As soon as we close, I've got to start painting, pulling up carpet, and refinishing the hardwood. Plus, I would like to redo the bathroom. All of that has got to be done before we move in, and we want to be out of here before the first, so we don't have to pay another month's rent. Again, I'll grill, or buy lunch for anyone who wants to volunteer. We can have a 'House Repair Day'.

Anyone who does come and help, is welcome to try the pool, but I don't think it will be warm enough. If not, you have an open invitation to come back when it is. They apparently got in there and cleaned the pool, but we still may have it cleaned by professionals.

I'm sorry that I've had to reduce to begging, but I've never done this kind of work by myself, and I just need some support, and guidance.

Either email me, send me a message here or on MySpace, or give me a call. Thanks ya'll!!

We Bought the House...WITH A POOL!!!

WE GOT THE HOUSE!!! Well, technically, we do. Apparently there was another offer before ours, but they have to sell their house first before they can buy, and they haven't sold it yet. So, our second offer was accepted, and they have 48 hours to sell their house, which they won't. They don't even have a contract on it yet, so there's no way they could sell it this weekend. They couldn't even get the bank stuff done in that amount of time. It took us over two days to set up our loan, and it would take their buyers at least that long.

I'm so excited to have a pool this summer! I'm already planning entertainment in my head. We're going tonight to buy a new bedroom suit, because we don't really have one. That means I'll have furniture to put on Craigs List. I just hope someone buys it, I don't have enough room!!

Before we can move in, there's so much to be done. I have to paint three rooms, then pull the carpet up. I then have to clean the hardwood with mineral spirits, and give them at least two coats of poly. I just hope our landlord, (who is also our realtor), will give us enough time to do that before we have to move.

The other thing is, April is a full month. So, unless we can close on the house in the next two weeks, we're going to have to move Easter weekend. The next weekend is our annual car meet in Scottsboro, which we host. Then, it's A-Day at Bama, and after that our Anniversary. I'm just hoping I have enough time to do the cosmetics before we move. Also hoping I can get some help!!

Jess' birthday is this weekend, so we're going to his mom's tommorow and Sunday.

Have a GREAT weekend!!

I have already sent her check back AS REQUESTED IN OUR
EMAILS LAST WEEK. This is an email I rec'd
from her re: the incorrect listing of the item: "That's ok.
I understand. I've done that before, too.
I'll take the syrups. I won some lip gloss from someone else,
so I'll have both sets now. I've been
wanting to try the Jaqua stuff anyway. Thanks, Glenna" Another
email that I got from her re: the check
sent that I DO NOT ACCEPT"Sorry about that. I always pay with
check you do what you have to do."

Yes, I told you that I only accepted PayPal or MO, and that you
could pay with either of those. You
told me to send your check back, that you understood.
It's NOT MY FAULT that you didn't read the
auction correctly, neither is it your fault that I listed wrong.
I apologized for that and again, was
sending you an item MUCH MORE VALUABLE. Ican't send you something I
dont' have. CHECK MY FEEDBACK>
I've made it for over 2yrs, wonderfully as a seller.
I can't afford a 36.00 overdraft fee. I'm sorry.
girlyspaceMar-08-07 at 11:49:24 PST
You NEVER told me to send a money order, not one time.
You could have waited for the check to
clear...You just did NOT want to sell the item for the low
price I won it for. You are being very
unreasonable and you will NEVER make it as a seller for very long on Ebay.
You have kept my check
for 2 weeks now and then decide to send it back.
I want my item I paid for!!!!! My feedback is 100%
even from Sellers and I always pay with a check. You are being ridiculous!
one_deal_at_a_timeMar-08-07 at 11:12:45 PST
I contacted the seller about this, we have been over this for a week.
I made a mistake by listing the
wrong item, and did not have her item in stock. I offered to send her
a much more valuable item out
of the same line, just body wash instead of lip gloss. She agreed.
Then, she sent me a personal check
, which I DO NOT ACCEPT, and expected me to deposit and pay the $36.00
overdraft fee if it was rubber.
I said to send me a MO, and she said to send ck back, so I did on Monday.
It hasn't arrived ye
